Essay by Kenneth Frampton
Modern Swedish design has exercised an extraordinary influence on international architecture and interior furnishings since the early twentieth century, yet the generative writings on the subject have never been widely translated, leaving the movement's intellectual background less well known than its material production. Modern Swedish Design presents the first English translations of three seminal texts by pioneers of Swedish design.
The translations, presented as near facsimiles of their original publications, are accompanied by scholarly introductions from the editors and an essay by architectural historian Kenneth Frampton on the "untimely timeliness" of Swedish modernism. Includes 260 illustrations.
