Omar Chkhaidze is an artist who introduced a new aesthetics in painting—an aesthetics of light—and showed how light can be transformed into color. Light has become a major subject in his work. He is a founder of a new direction in fine arts: Light-figurative painting. Omar Chkhaidze was born April 16, 1944 in the country of Georgia, in the mountains of ancient Colchis. In 1966 he graduated from the art school in Tbilisi and later, in 1973, the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, the faculty of painting. Since 1964 Omar has been a participant in international art shows. Since 1994 he lives and works in Moscow, Russia. In 2000 he opened his gallery in the Central Artist’s House. Omar Chkhaidze is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, a Member of the European Academy of Natural Sciences, a Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He is an author of a number of innovation projects in art, philosophy and science.
