Designed and handmade in London by a Black woman-owned business, Lolly & Kiks, this festive ornament incorporates recycled offcuts from African wax print fabric. Lolly & Kiks was founded by Xandra who also goes by the name Kiks, derived from her Nigerian middle name Kikelomo. Born in Ibadan, Nigeria and raised in London from the age of two, Kiks began designing in 2018 when she made a tote bag out of leftover fabric from a traditional Nigerian engagement ceremony. The offcuts used for this holiday ornament is derived from wax print fabrics—a material made through the traditional Indonesian batik technique in which wax is used to stop dyes from reaching different parts of the cloth to create a pattern. When the ornament is made, the placement of the fabric design is different, making each one a unique design. The African Fola Wax Print Holiday Ornament measures 3.5
