Creating the illusion of an impossible feat of balance, the Bilia Mini Lamp is composed of a glass globe atop a painted metal conical base—two geometric forms combined to create a perfectly proportioned object. Gio Ponti originally designed the lamp with a black base in 1932, but he also imagined the Bilia in a range of colors. From his notes on the original project, Bilia is now produced in the hues that Ponti considered. Made in Italy, the lamp provides a diffused light with a maximum G9 LED 6W bulb (not included). Gio Ponti’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection. The Bilia Mini Lamp is powered by standard plug-in (with a 63.5”l clear cord) and measures 10h x 4.7"diam.
