MoMA Exclusive: This Joan Jonas Rachel Comey Mesh Tote, a special-edition collaboration between the groundbreaking contemporary artist and the independent fashion designer, coincides with the MoMA exhibition Joan Jonas: Good Night Good Morning. Comey, who pays tribute to Jonas with her Spring 2024 collection, says, “She crosses between all different media, from performance to drawing to installation.” Stills from 1984’s Double Lunar Dogs and 1989’s Volcano Saga are featured on the bag which was made in New York City, where both women call home. Joan Jonas is a visual artist who creates meditations on bodies, space, time, and nature. Her projects from the late 1960s to early 1970s were influential in the creation of video performance art as a medium. Rachel Comey is a fashion designer known for her intellectual approach to clothing, shoes, and accessories. 

Joan Jonas: Good Night Good Morning, a comprehensive Joan Jonas retrospective that provides new insights into the artist’s process, unprecedented access to archival materials, and fresh historical perspectives on Jonas’s work, is on view March 17 through July 6, 2024.
