An icon of Bauhaus design, the Kaiser-idell Luxus Floor Lamp was conceived in 1931 by Christian Dell, whose work is represented in MoMA’s collection. At once striking and unobtrusive, this sleek design is an ideal reading lamp beside your favorite chair or as ambient lighting in your living space. The shade is adjustable, thanks to its patented swivel joint, which was considered a revolutionary invention in 1931. The Kaiser-idell is made in Europe from steel and brass, with hand-painted and chrome-plated finishes. Its name is derived from the first company Christian Dell worked for, Gebrüder Kaiser & Co. and an amalgam of Dell and idee, the German word for “idea.” The Kaiser-idell Luxus Floor Lamp measures 53.25h with a 8.5”w round base. Powered by standard plug-in, it requires an E26 60W max bulb (not included).
