Designed in 1929 by modernist master Mies van Der Rohe, this stool is made to accompany the Barcelona Chair or it can also live alone, offering a stylish seat in your home. Distinguished by exceptional craftsmanship, the Barcelona Stool—an object in MoMA’s collection—is upholstered with 18 individual panels of black leather produced from a single cowhide.
The panels are cut, hand-welted and hand-tufted with leather buttons. The premium-quality cushions are made from highly resilient urethane foam with down-like dacron polyester fiberfill.
The stool’s polished chrome frame is hand-buffed to a mirror polish, and the seven leather upholstery strappy are attached with aluminum rivets.
The Barcelona Stool is built and handmade in Italy to Mies van der Rohe’s exacting standards and measures 14.75h x 25w x 23.25”d. Knoll is a manufacturer with work in MoMA’s collection.
