Agee and Rose began with clues, leads, and intuitions. Working from a few documents and from interviews with friends and family, they have reconstructed Bruce's life, his working methods, his approach to painting, and the sources of his ideas, and have proposed a chronology of the works, most of which are unsigned and undated. The results of this effort are presented in two critical and biographical essays, and in a catalogue of the paintings. A chronology of Bruce's life, a detailed list of his exhibitions, and a documents section complete the volume. 240 pp.; 242 illus.
