MoMA Exclusive: For this Traits Florence Scarf—made in France from 90% wool and 10% silk—designer Barbara Platte was inspired by color field painting, an abstract art movement that had its prominence during the late 1950s and 1960s. Produced using eco-friendly methods, this soft, warm Traits Florence Scarf features patterns created through jacquard weaves. The result is an interplay of stripes, simple geometric forms and intense solid colors. The fabric’s silk adds a smooth hand to the warmness of the wool.
Examples of color field paintings by Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler and other artists are represented in MoMA’s collection. The Traits Florence Wool & Silk Scarf measures 74.8l x 19.7"w, long enough to wrap around your neck twice. Dry clean only.
